Weekly Updates
Hello Again Rotarians!

Our new fellow Rotarian Matthieu Bonin who is currently swimming around Manitoulin Island needs our help!

Matt's team is looking for some ground support volunteers for his swim.  He started July 1 and is planning on swimming the entire month.  He has a strong water crew, but they are looking for volunteers to assist in the ground crew on the island.

Basically they are camping on the shores as they work around the island so the ground crew is packing up camp, finding a suitable camp spot close to the estimated destination for the night, running around getting supplies and getting the camp set up for the next night.

Anyone with knowledge of the island geography would be an asset but any  help at all would be great.  Can float in and out as well so they could commit a weekend, or a few day’s during the week they don’t need to commit the entire month.

Please contact our very own Mick Weaver, and he can filter and connect them with Matt’s captain.

District News
July 1, 2022

Greetings fromimage your new District Governor to you friendly Rotarians. Welcome to a new Rotary fiscal year. Welcome new Presidents and your boards. We have a new Rotary International President, Jennifer Jones, our first woman in this role from Windsor, Ontario!  Happy Canada Day.

Imagine Rotary is her theme, with the logo designed by an Australian Aboriginal person with the circle uniting us, the seven dots for people and our seven areas of focus that forms a guiding star. The green digging stick indicates the volunteer hours that we Rotarians do. The colours are of the women’s suffragette +movement of years ago. Purple could be for diversity, green for the environment and white for peace. Imagine Rotary.
  • Imagine World Peace.
  • Imagine girls getting an education.
  • Imagine a world free of polio, malaria, and covid.
  • Imagine people having clean water – Water First
  • Imagine women having healthy children.
  • Imagine a world where there isn’t the great disparity between rich and poor.
  •  Imagine a world whose climate is stable and there is biodiversity
I will be visiting your clubs, often with your Assistant Governors to learn about your projects and fundraising, tell you what is happening with Rotary International and in our district.

I will distribute the “Imagine Rotary” pins and banners. In lieu of a gift, please donate to Peace Centres - Donate | My Rotary and chose Area of Focus – Peace Building and Conflict Prevention and let me know.
