At last week’s meeting, Sunrisers were provided with an overview of the Sudbury Rural and Northern Immigration (RNIP) program pilot by Alex Ross, the Business Development Officer – Human Capital for the City of Greater Sudbury.
He explained that the City of Greater Sudbury needed an immigration program as there are many signs that our aging population is starting to have an impact on CGS economy.
The number of individuals aged 55 and older has risen by 61% since 2010.
The Sudbury RNIP program is delivered by the City of Greater Sudbury’s Economic Development division and funded by FedNor and the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation.
The RNIP is a unique permanent residence pathway for international workers, aimed toward filling important labour shortages in the Sudbury community.
The RNIP is designed for workers who have an intention to reside in the City of Greater Sudbury over the long term, and if approved, are granted the ability to apply for permanent residency as well as an LMIA-exempt work permit.
It is with great excitement that I am writing to let you know that Nick and I will be starting the 2022-23 Rotary year as President of Rotary International on a tour from coast to coast to coast across Canada.
There is a countrywide team planning the tour and we will be officially announcing the dates and locations following the International Assembly this February. Each destination is intended to be a “hub” that will draw from surrounding districts and geographical areas.
The Canada tour is part of a global effort to elevate the profile of Rotary. As people of action, people of purpose and people of influence, we want to engage our members along with community leaders and supporters, and each location will include service and social opportunities.
While we are dedicating several weeks to this tour, I hope you understand that that we will not be able to visit each Province or Territory and encourage you to consider participating in one of the hubs that is most convenient for you.
Please watch for more announcements about this – and I hope to see you in early July 2022!
Wishing you and your families much peace, love, joy and health in this new year.
Warmest, Jennifer

Not a typical week at Water First!
Our Executive Director, John, was lucky to connect last week with the incredible Ryan Reynolds,
who was interested in learning more about the amazing interns in our programs and plans for the future.
We're so grateful for Ryan's interest and enthusiasm!
