District Governor Lynne Chant was the guest speaker at our last meeting. Lynne joined the Rotary Club of London South and was a member there for two years before moving to Peterborough where she joined the Peterborough Kawartha Rotary club. Lynne has had several positions at the club level eventually becoming the club President in 2007-08. In 2009, Lynne travelled to Ecuador with 28 other Rotarians to help distribute wheelchairs. This experience so impacted Lynne’s life that she became a strong supporter of the Rotary Foundation. Lynne was extremely honoured to be asked to serve as District 7010 District Governor for 2020- 2021. Lynne reminded Rotarians that although this is not how we envisioned this year, that it has not changed our core values as Rotarians and our resolve for Service Above Self in our community. She highlighted that this year has been transformative in how we look at clubs moving forward whether in person, virtual or a hybrid model. Different models offer different experiences and may meet the needs of different members allowing clubs to be more inclusive. Lynne provided an update on District activities and also shared her goals for literacy and the environment and provided Sunrisers with information about a water stewardship initiative being implemented in partnership with other Districts around the Great Lakes.
