Should you not pay by June 15th, 2022, Jeff will follow up with a phone call to see your intentions.

If you are not planning on returning, please advise Jeff Shrigley.

If you have not paid by June 29th, 2022, you will be removed from Clubrunner, so the club does not get charged.

Weekly Updates
At last week's meeting, our very own Sudbury Sunriser Dawn Condon hosted Rotarians at her studio Connected Living Yoga and Wellness.
Dawn kindly guided Rotarians through gentle yoga and meditation using only a chair and the abilities we each had.

What a great way to start off our day.
"Connected Living invites and nurtures exploration into the deeper aspects of life in a safe and respectful way for everyone. Using yoga and meditation in a way that is accessible to all to connect mind, body and spirit".

Thank you Dawn for being a great host and inviting us to your beautiful studio.

Plans are coming together for the RI President-elect Jennifer Jones tour coming to Toronto on July 5th.  As previously reported, in the morning there is the Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup at the Humber River from 10:30 – 12:00 and there is room for 25 participants from our District. If you want to participate, more information and registration is here: Watershed Registration

In the afternoon, a meal packing event supporting Kids Against Hunger will take place two locations in our District; Barrie and North Bay. You can register for these two events and get more information about times and locations at D7010 Kids Against Hunger Registration

In the evening, there is a BBQ Dinner at the Toronto Botanical Gardens from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. We have tickets for 60 Rotary and 8 Rotaract members from our District. Cost for the meal will be $75 per person (Rotaract $37.50). If you want to attend more information and registration is here: BBQ Dinner Registration

Rotary Club of Parry Sound Response to Ukraine

Thanks to the generosity of Rotary members and others, the The Rotary Foundation’s Disaster Response Fund, to date, has raised more than $US 15 million in contributions. These funds are being distributed to Rotary districts that apply for Disaster Response grants and will be used to provide relief to refugees or other victims of the crisis, including items such as water, food, shelter, medicine, and clothing.

So far, 104 disaster response grants totalling $US 3.0 million have been awarded to support people affected by the war.

I am thrilled to report that the Rotary Club of Parry Sound asked District 7010 to apply for a Disaster Response Grant to assist the burn unit of a hospital in Mykolaiv, Ukraine. The hospital has seen a threefold increase in the number of patients being treated since the beginning of the Russian invasion and is dramatically under equipped to meet this need. Within two days of submitting the application, we were awarded a grant of $US 24,600. Thanks to the Rotary Club of Parry Sound for taking this initiative.

Water First Update

Our District Indigenous Focus project assists the Canadian non-profit organization Water First to deliver a Drinking Water Internship Program to a group of young Indigenous adults. Our involvement is to provide funding of the fourth Internship Program - a collaboration with Mamaweswen, The North Shore Tribal Council, which includes seven member First Nations located on the north shore of Lake Huron along Provincial Hwy. 17, spanning from Sault Ste Marie to Sudbury. This is great news for District 7010 as most of these communities are located within our District. The program will commence this summer.

I am thrilled to report that a team of dedicated District 7010 Rotarians have been busy over the past year making presentations to Rotary and Rotaract clubs both in District 7010 and surrounding Districts; 7080, 7070 and 7040. Support for the project by clubs and individuals both Rotarian and non-Rotarian has been overwhelming. I am very happy to report that to date we have received over $100,000 from D7010 and an additional $38,000 from the other three Districts.

In addition to the over $138,000 received to date we have pledges of another $14,000 and when District Designated Funds and World Fund contributions are factored in, our expected total fundraising is just over $193,000.

None of this success would be possible without your club and member commitment to the program. I thank you for your support.

Partnership Program Between Rotary and The Bruce Trail Conservancy

The Bruce Trail Conservancy is launching the ‘Hike It, Love It, Keep It Clean’ project this summer, with the goal of promoting health and wellness by hiking and experiencing the natural beauty of the magnificent Bruce Trail while making a positive environmental impact by cleaning up litter on the Bruce Trail along the hike.

The Bruce Trail Conservancy is partnering with local Rotary Clubs to host a weekend-long litter clean-up event on June 11-12, 2022, that will encourage Rotarians to get involved and clean up litter along a local section of the Bruce Trail.
