Last meeting
At last week's Rotary meeting our very own Dawn Condon was our guest vocational speaker. Dawn explained to Sunrisers that Yoga is a philosophy and way of life and that the physical aspect of yoga is only one component. She highlighted that how we treat ourselves affects how we are on the outside; that light and love is the core of who we are and that yoga helps us translate that into the world. Dawn provided Rotarians with a demonstration of movements and breathing techniques to better start our day.

Dawn has dedicated her life to the wellness and fitness industry for over 20 years. She is the owner of Connected Living, founder of Shine Om Yoga, and creator of the Yoga For Real People series. She is also the owner and Wellness Co-ordinator of NEOMO Wellness, working with the NEOMO Family Medical Centre.

"Without balancing vibrant health and wellness, body, mind and spirit, nothing else in your life, works. It’s the one thing that affects the rest of your life. You deserve to live a life that honours you and helps you present your most powerful self to the world… to find the joy and bliss waiting right there".

Program Updates

The Plasma Drive needs your help to reach the donation goal! Please contact Brandi Braithwaite to sign up for a time to donate.

India COVID Relief Project The project goal is to secure enough funds to purchase as many concentrators as is possible, at least 10 units and maybe more from our own District. Please check your email for "An URGENT message to all District 7010 Rotarians re: India COVID Relief Project". Instruction on how to contribute are contained in the email. Due to the urgency of the situation in India
this project will be open only until May 17th, 2021

Water First works with Indigenous councils by funding a career training program for young adults in water management. The plan is to raise funds for this program, by obtaining support from clubs in District 7010 and other Districts both in Canada and internationally. We intend to augment these funds by applying for a global grant and accessing District Designated Funds and The Rotary Foundation World Fund. District Governor Elect, Steve Meadley, is looking for Rotarians who are interested and willing to be part of this exciting initiative by being a member of the Water First committee.

Rotary Prayer
As we start to resume having Rotarians recite the prayer at meetings here is a reminder:

O Lord, Giver of All Good,
We thank you for our daily food.
May Rotary friends and Rotary ways.
Help us to serve thee all our days.

Rotary News

Jennifer Jones - Peace Conference Speaker | Rotary District 5890Jennifer Jones, member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Ontario, Canada, will become Rotary International’s president for 2022-23, a groundbreaking selection that will make her the first woman to hold that office in the service organization’s 115-year existence.

“Leaders are found from every age, gender, race and background”

Jones, whose confirmation comes at a unique time in history, is inspired by how the organization and its global members continue to adapt, connect and serve their communities in new ways during the coronavirus pandemic. Jones says she wants to harness this moment of change to develop metric-driven goals that challenge us to innovate, educate and communicate opportunities that reflect today’s realities.

“Silver linings rise out of the most challenging circumstances,” Jones said in her vision statement. “Our members are resolute in finding ways to aid those in need as the pandemic continues to underscore how Rotary is a global force for doing good in the world.”

As Jones looks ahead to her presidential term, she confirms that she’s prepared to take on existing and new challenges as society continues to evolve at a rapid pace, and like Rotary presidents before her, is eager to set Rotary on course for a robust and vibrant future.

“Years ago, I asked one of our incoming presidents what he wanted his legacy to be. He very quickly told me he wasn’t interested in building a legacy and that he was interested in getting to work,” said Jones. “Those words have always stuck with me, and I too simply want to get down to work.”

About Jennifer Jones

Jennifer is the Founder and President of Media Street Productions Inc., a twenty-five-year old, award-winning media company in Windsor, Ontario.

Jennifer has strengthened Rotary’s reach and impact through her service in many roles including as Trustee of the Rotary Foundation, RI Vice President, and co-chair of the End Polio Now: Make History Today campaign. As a professional communicator, Jennifer also used her vocational strength to chair the advisory group that crafted Rotary’s rebranding effort.

Working alongside government officials, celebrities and global leaders, she utilizes her voice to raise awareness and hundreds of millions of dollars to eradicate disease, support peace and provide clean water and sanitation in developing areas of the world. Her skill as an expert storyteller inspires hope and promise and motivates people to take action

She has received many honors and recognitions including Rotary’s Service Above Self Award and the Citation for Meritorious Service, the YMCA Peace Medallion, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, and Wayne State University’s Peacemaker of the Year Award – a first for a Canadian. Jennifer is married to Rotarian Nick Krayacich, a family physician.
