At last week’s meeting, Rotary Sunrisers welcomed Dr. Robert Haché, President and Vice Chancellor at Laurentian University, as its guest speaker. Dr. Haché provided an overview of how the university is emerging from insolvency and managing COVID-19. Despite challenges, since its inception LU has graduated over 60K students and remains top 3 in the province in terms of students finding employment after graduation. Dr. Haché sees a promising future for both students and the university coming out of the re-structuring and the pandemic. On February 15, 2019, the Board of Governors of Laurentian University appointed Dr. Robert Haché as the University’s 11th president and vice-chancellor. Former vice-president of Research and Innovation at York University, Dr. Haché has broad experience in leading university research and innovation activities. Prior to York, he served as associate vice-president of Research at the University of Calgary and vice-dean of Research for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Haché is recognized for his strong and collaborative leadership experience in the Canadian University sector, his successes leading strategic partnerships and initiatives, as well as his proven engagement toward student success. |
